Join the Garden Party! (Week One)

If you saw last Monday’s post Down the Garden Path, you’ll know that I’ve started working on the garden the Flylady way – in babysteps!

This weekend I checked off one of the first tasks on my list: scrubbing the wooden deck with cleaning fluid.  First of all, I moved all the furniture to one side and – extra Brownie points for me – I threw away the old (dead) plants and (sad remains of) candles in the lanterns…

I had about 45 minutes to spare before lunch so I decided to just get cracking and do what I could.  I tend to hyperfocus on things, so I needed to limit the time!  So I filled up an old washing up bowl with cleaner, grabbed a brush and started scrubbing everything in sight, starting with the tables and chairs ;D

Then I scrubbed the deck and the railings.  And then came the fun part – hosing it all off!  Very glad that I had the forethough to put on my wellies…

Was the deck perfect when I was done?  No.  But it looked ten times better…  And I didn’t care at all when it rained heavily the next day, because it just helped to give it an extra rinse!

Have you started work on your garden too?  Then why not join in the Garden Party!  See you back here next Monday for another update.

Have a marvelous Monday! 🙂

  1. I am checking out the weather forecast for tomorrow and hope to spend some time cleaning up the yard. I am already dreaming of putting out my summer furniture and putting flowers in planters.

  2. What a great feeling to get that accomplished! We just pressure washed our deck. It had been 9 years so it was past due. I bought some inexpensive adirondack chairs and have enjoyed being outdoors!

  3. Hi girls! It's been great to get a head start on the garden this year – especially as we're now having a heatwave! 😀

Wishing you both lots of sun and heat at your end… 🙂
